In my other life (and under another name), I earned a B.A. in International Relations from Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and an M.A. in National Security Policy from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. For ten years, I worked with a U.S. government agency to control the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Among my many fascinating experiences in the line of duty, I’ve been trapped in an elevator in one of the world’s most dangerous nuclear power plants. Shrouded in protective clothing, I have wandered the corridors of facilities once used to churn out metric tons of nerve agent, mustard gas and other nasties. I’m a fluent Russian speaker currently living in Moscow, and I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and Eurasia, including a rare visit to North Korea. I’ve negotiated with foreign governments and enjoyed many other exotic and unique experiences while working to make the world a safer place. In 2004, I decided to add another element to the mix by pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a professional author. I’m a member of the Romance Writers of America, RWA's Hearts Through History and Inland Empire chapters. I am also a graduate of the Robert McKee Story Seminar, the Smithsonian Institution’s course titled “Conversations with Historical Fiction Writers," a ten-week Gotham Writers' Workshop course on romance writing, and the Donald Maass "Writing the Breakout Novel" seminar.
